Overview

Harding Theological College is one of the premier educational institutions in Garo Hills affiliated to Senate of Serampore College (The First University in the soil of India) and sponsored by Garo Baptist Convention which is a regional church body under Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI). It is a member body of Asian Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF) and the Baptist World Alliance (BWA). Garo Baptist Convention covers the area of some portion in Meghalaya state and Assam in Northern Part. It has 330000 baptized members with 284 pastorates and 2400 local churches.

Harding Theological College formerly known as Achik Bible School was started in 1919 with the founding Principal Rev. Dr. Frederick Harding. The school was upgraded to Bachelor program in 1995 and later started Bachelor of Divinity course by 2008. After Dr. Imnanungshi Imsong took over Principalship in 2012, the college is fully affiliated under Senate of Serampore University. Now the college offers Bachelor of Divinity (B.D) and Bachelor of Christian Studies (B.C.S). The college is also given Examination Centre for Doctor of Ministry (D.Min). The college has started to offer Master of Theology (M.Th), Master of Christian Studies (M.C.S) and D. Min Centre since 2022.

Harding Theological College is now a project of Harding Universal Trust a Registered Trust under Indian Trust Act. HUT was officially given permission to run the college by the then Delegate meeting of Garo Baptist Convention in 2014 which was held at Damal A‧sim. Harding Universal Trust implements various projects for society both individually and partnering with any establishments. Since the inception, HUT is a non profit making Trust, and a charitable establishment involving in building society and imparting well thought skill development programs.
